Loneliness…..

Your perceptions take a test when you see this picture. You struggle with stereotypes trying to find the meaning of this picture.

Let me tell you how I got to looking at this picture and ebb of thinking in known standards began in me.

A few earthly things which gives you a high also got through to me eventually, I landed up in a friends home and pledged not to sleep after a night full of raging emotions and oozing of youth from my younger “cubs”, rather “tigers”. We discussed issues pertaining to trust and how it interrupts relationships and hence affecting your own life. Morning came upon us as did Magellan on certain facts of our dear mother earth. My emphasis on looking at the bigger picture was a lost argument considering what others had seen till now, and I had given up on explaining it to them. (yeah, I am that kind of a smartass !)

Anyway, I stumbled on this guy’s collection of oil paintings (out of which he chose one as his profile picture). The simplicity of this picture amongst the others and the absence of colors took me surprise, as I held my head against the gust of intellectual wind which blew at my face across my eyes, straight to my head. One would blame my inebriated state for this reaction, but even that had nothing to do with it !

What one would see as a first person view of loneliness, I see as total confusion between passing a judgment on such stark contrast image!

How would one co-relate the make believe world of a 5 year old who has tea parties with his/her teddy bear with an entity who is lonely and then compensates it with a make believe world of its own choosing ?

The possible answers to my question would nevertheless hinge upon how we define loneliness and in what context. Critical thinkers, would not hesitate to club both of them into a same class and then demarcating between the two, romanticists would heavily rely on human emotions and their meanings as function of their experience as they age, but would that do justice to the question at hand ?

It seems to me as an open ended question albeit nipping at the bud would lead to a possible answer with appropriate explanations ……

I add to this another picture in a similar context and leave you with a hanging question : Does this image show you a sign of hope or despair ;) ?
